Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company
SPECIAL PROJECTS
C2C provided Project Management, Relocation Management, and Furniture Management services for the design and construction of the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company’s 40,000 square foot home in Washington, DC.
A Bold Vision for the Arts
Located at 641 D Street NW, the award-winning 265-seat courtyard-style theater was designed by architect Mark McInturff in collaboration with Theatre Projects Consultants. More than a performance venue, the space reflects the spirit and energy of contemporary theater, offering patrons and artists alike a world-class cultural experience.
A Transparent & Engaging Environment
The theater integrates glass-walled rehearsal spaces, classrooms, and administrative areas, creating a unique sense of openness where the creative process is always on display. A dramatic two-tiered lobby serves as both a gathering place and an extension of the theater experience, making Woolly Mammoth a vibrant hub of artistic exchange.
Engineering Complex Infrastructure
To bring this ambitious vision to life, significant base building modifications were required, including slab openings, reinforced slabs, and stair installations—all carefully managed to accommodate the specialized needs of a performance venue.
The Result
The new Woolly Mammoth Theatre is more than just a home for one of America’s most innovative theater companies—it is a landmark cultural destination, hosting hundreds of performances annually and bringing audiences, artists, and students together at the cutting edge of performance.
